Grades 4-7 This manual for both veteran LEGO enthusiasts and ambitious new ones opens with instructions for making and connecting standard building bases and closes with step-by-step instructions for constructing a corner drugstore and three types of (furnished!) townhouses. This also provides diagrams and finished images for a wide variety of urban facades and smaller indoor and outdoor items, from sofas to fire hydrants. Along with general advice for designing model buildings or looking at real ones for inspiration, the authors supply helpful hints for reproducing a range of cornices, decorative brickwork, and other architectural details. Directions come with complete visual parts lists, and though some models, particularly the four full structures, require thousands of pieces, the results are easily spectacular enough to keep LEGO maniacs on track.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
