A trekking guide to the Alta Via 1 (AV1) and Alta Via 2 (AV2), long distance routes through the Italian Dolomites. Full route descriptions are given for the AV 1 and 2, while the lesser frequented Alta Via routes 3-6 are described in outline. Alta Via 1 is 120km, taking 10 days from Lago di Braies to Belluno, and perfectly suited for a first alpine experience. Alta Via 2 (150km) is higher and more strenuous, from Bressanone to Feltre, taking over 2 weeks to complete. The four further Alta Via routes increase in difficulty and remoteness with each successive route. This guide includes inspirational colour photography, lots of clear maps, optional variants to the established routes and all the practical information needed.
