      Nonbinary identity expert and consultant Marsh likens themself to a kind of Mister Rogers figure and here gifts a loving and encouraging reading experience, urging readers to give themselves the kindness they give others. The book is aimed at an LGBTQIA+ audience, but most readers can gain comfort, helpful advice, and confidence from Marsh's gentle words. While telling their story of growing up queer and learning to not only advocate for themself but forgive others who have been hurtful, Marsh shares lessons they learned and how their Buddhist background helped guide the journey. With periodic letters to a younger Jeffrey, and an unfolding of lessons from formative life events, the author builds a conversational narrative that provides readers with a safe space in which to grow. There are actionable items at a regular pace to help readers unlearn harmful behaviors and boost self-worth, with plenty of space for self-reflection. VERDICT While not a replacement for a therapist, the book asks good questions to help readers open up and dig deeper, and gives stepping stones to better self-love.--Amanda Ray
